Make the Most of Your Custom Cutting System with Cardstock Templates
If you love using the Creative Memories Custom Cutting System (CCS) Circle Patterns, you know how versatile — and sometimes tricky — it can be to choose the perfect size for your layout. That’s where cardstock templates come to the rescue! By creating a set of reusable templates in Cranberry, Kelly Green, and Blue cardstock, you’ll save time, reduce guesswork, and open up new creative possibilities.
Here’s how it works: The Creative Memories Custom Cutting System uses three different blade colors — red, green, and blue — each creating a unique size cut. By cutting circles from cardstock using each blade with each pattern, you create a full set of templates that represent every possible size.
Once your templates are ready, you can:
- Plan photo cropping: Place different-sized templates over your photos to see which size works best before making the first cut.
- Test placement on your layout: Move the templates around your page to decide on the best balance and layering without committing to an actual cut.
- Create masks for patterned paper: Use your templates to preview how a pattern will look when cropped into a circle, helping you choose between subtle or bold designs.
To help you get started, I’ve created a step-by-step video tutorial and a printable handout showing exactly how to cut and label your layout. You’ll also see tips for keeping them organized and ready for every scrapbooking session.
Whether you’re new to the Custom Cutting System or a seasoned pro, cardstock templates will quickly become your new favorite scrapbooking tool!
