Scrapbook Live – One & Done Layouts

The Layouts

Sometimes quick, easy layouts are just what the doctor ordered when you have a case of “I-gotta-get-this-album-done!” Or maybe a case of the early morning “my-coffee-hasn’t-kicked-in?” And while these eight layouts were designed by Creative Memories to teach beginner scrapbookers the basics, they are perfect for even the most seasoned crafters to get pages done quickly with plenty of flexibility to add as many extra details as you desire.

Creative Memories originally published these layouts in 2023, and I’ve compiled them into one 3-page handout for easy reference. Each two-page layout requires three sheets of paper – 2 papers (or cardstock) to serve as the background/base pages and one designer paper (which needs to be double-sided) to be cut with the 12-inch trimmer. No additional tools are needed!

In the left column of the handout, you will see the sketch of the layout design, and on the right, you will see the cut guide for the 12×12 designer paper.

Perfect layouts for your 8×8 gift album!

Bonus? These designs will work extremely for your 8×8 albums. Bigger bonus? I have a handout for that too!

Layouts

Layout #2

I had SOOO much empty space that it felt a little uncomfortable – like maybe this should have been a single page layout instead of a double. Do you ever have that feeling? I added a border at the bottom with the retired Ghost BMC, but then decided it felt a little bottom heavy so added more ghosts at the top. You can never have too many ghosts, right? I also decided to work in some Parakeet Shimmer for an accent color and I think the green just pops so nicely. I used it for mats on the left and right pages. I added Bright White mats to the other photos to help them pop off the page as well.

Layout #6

I worked in Hot Fudge cardstock for the mats and decided to use the retired peacock cardstock for the title on the left page. I wanted to balance the color on the right page, so I added the hot fudge and peacock band behind the top square photos. I moved the elements on the right page up a bit on the page to leave room for a couple of lines of journaling at the bottom. I loved the Medium Kraft cardstock with the (retired) Modern Moments papers, but it needed a bit of detail around the edges to frame in the photos, so I did a quick single line doodle with a brown dual-tip journal pen. I also used the pen to ink the edges of the designer paper which gave it bit of pop off the cardstock base.

Sizes of elements NOT included in the original sketch:

Left Page: (2) 6 x 4-1/2″ mats with (2) 5-1/2 x 4″ photos

Right Page: 10 x 4-1/2″ mat with (2) 2-7/8 x 4″ and (1) 4 x 4″ photos
