Simply Stunning!
Okay, I have to warn you upfront — this week’s Scrapbook Live is NOT a quick-and-easy one. But I promise you, it is worth every single minute.
We all know that the Creative Memories Blog is full of delightful techniques and this Friday I am walking you through a page idea that I’ve had on my “must do” list for a long time! We are using the CM Custom Cutting System circle patterns to cut paper into small rings, slice those rings in half, and then layer them across the page to create a geometric, eye-catching decoration that looks like it came straight out of a design studio.
I am not even kidding when I say people are going to ask you HOW you made this page.
The original blog layout by Krislyn uses the Serene Waters collection, which is absolutely gorgeous — but unfortunately, it’s now retired. Here’s the good news: the PAGE DESIGN itself works with absolutely any collection you already own. The magic is in the technique, not the paper line. So, dig into your stash, pick a collection that matches your photos or theme, and let’s make something beautiful together.
Here’s why this technique is worth the extra effort
A few things to know before we get started:
This layout calls for patience. When you are cutting small paper rings and layering them precisely, repositionable tape is going to be your absolute best friend. You will be adjusting placement more than once — and that is completely normal and part of the process! Take your time, enjoy it, and trust that every little ring you layer is building toward something really special.
Here’s what we’ll cover
- How to use the CM Custom Cutting System circle patterns to cut perfect paper rings
- How to cut those rings in half and start building your geometric layered design
- Tips for using repositionable tape to position and adjust your pieces before committing
- How to adapt this design to any collection in your stash
