I will be going LIVE on my Facebook page at 12:00 pm PT on FRIDAY, December 6, 2024. If you can’t join me for the FB Live, the recording will be available to watch later on Facebook or you can find it on my YouTube Channel. I will also add it to this blog post along with a photo of my final layout.

The Layout

I adore everything about the Flurry of Fun collection – a red, blue and white winter color scheme is right up my alley. This collection is all about the outdoor delights to be had during the winter months, though I am not sure that shoveling 12 inches of snow can be called a delight. But now that I live in Phoenix, those days are all in my past!

This layout shows off the beautiful paper patters that are part of the Flurry of Fun collection and I just love how the wave of the border detail mimics the drifting snow. The windows at the top are a touch of the unexpected, but yet a familiar part of winter, as the best place to enjoy the snow, in my opinion, is from the inside of the house!

For my demo layout I used the What a Zoo, Too collection and photos from the San Diego Zoo. While my demo page strongly resembles the blog layout, I altered the directions to create the striped border and expanded the layout to two pages. The video below has all the details but here is a quick summary on how to create the border:

  1. Trim 8 strips of paper to 1-3/8 x 4″ and adhere to a 4 x 12″ strip of cardstock. The first and last strips are flush with the outside edge of the cardstock and then space each remaining strip evenly across the open area. Space between each strip should be just shy of 1/8″.
  2. Cut the paper covered cardstock in half at 2″ to create two 2 x 12″ borders.
  3. If desired, trim one edge of each strip with the swell edge of the 12″ Decorative Trimmer. In lieu of using the Deco Trimmer, you can cap each border with a sticker similar to how it is done in the blog layout.
