A Layout with Staying Power
I first shared this layout back in the fall of 2020 when I was a member of the Creative Life Scrapbooking design team, and it has remained a favorite of mine ever since. At the time, I created it using the wood texture paper from the Graceful Theme Pack, which added just the right amount of visual interest without overpowering the photos. That subtle texture helped ground the design and gave the layout a warm, timeless feel.
When Creative Memories released the new Wonderful Day collection in September 2024 —complete with a Woodgrain Paper Pack—it immediately reminded me of this design. It felt like the perfect opportunity to bring the layout back and feature it during Scrapbook Live, showing how older ideas can easily be refreshed with newer products. One of the things I love most about this layout is how adaptable it is. While woodgrain works beautifully, it’s absolutely not required.
If you don’t have woodgrain paper on hand, cardstock is a great option, as are other tonal papers that keep the focus on your photos. If you choose a designer paper instead, I recommend sticking with something subtle and low-contrast so the background supports the layout rather than competing with it. This flexibility makes the design easy to recreate with supplies you already have, which is always a win in my book.

The Printable Handout
While this isn’t a difficult layout, you will want to have a ruler, pencil and your 13×13 Cutting Mat available.
