Spooky Scrapbooking Fun: Halloween “Mummy Wrap” Layout
Halloween is the perfect excuse to get a little creepy and cute with your scrapbooking — and this week’s Scrapbook Live layout delivers just that! I’ll be working with Creative Memories’ Hide & Eek! collection, which strikes a delightful balance of playful ghosts and not-so-scary spooks.
Mummy-Inspired Paper Tearing Technique
This week’s layout features a fun, hands-on technique: paper tearing! We’ll be using strips of white cardstock, torn by hand, to create a “mummy wrap” effect across the page. Each strip adds texture and dimension — no fancy tools required.
During the live class, I’ll also show you how to distress and ink the torn edges for extra definition. This subtle touch transforms the cardstock from plain white to aged and eerie — perfect for your Halloween photos!
About the Layout Design
The layout sample I’ll be demonstrating showcases four photos, but as always, you can adapt the design to fit your story. Whether you’re scrapping trick-or-treating adventures, pumpkin patch visits, or your favorite costumes, this layout can easily be adjusted to highlight what matters most — your memories.
We’ll finish the page with coordinating papers and embellishments from the Hide & Eek! collection to tie everything together. You can go bold and spooky or soft and playful depending on which papers you choose.
Join Me – Video Demo using the On the Mend collection
During the live demo, I used the On the Mend collection to create a version of this layout that will work well for memories of the not-so-fun broken bones. I also share ideas for adapting the look to other themes too.
