Simple & Effective Layouts: Easing Back into Scrapbooking
Not all scrapbook borders need to be complex to be beautiful. While Creative Memories offers so many wonderful paper tools for crafting intricate page details, sometimes a clean, simple design is exactly what a layout needs. As I ease back into my scrappy routine after a couple of weeks of holiday rest and relaxation, I knew this easy-to-execute layout from my customer vault would be the perfect way to kick off Scrapbook Live for 2026.
This design is built around one of my favorite features of Creative Memories designer paper: it’s double-sided. With just a quick angled cut, you can turn ordinary paper strips into bold diagonal accents that add energy and interest without making the page feel busy. It’s a simple trick that delivers a lot of visual impact.
To add just the right amount of detail, I used the Custom Cutting System to create circles that anchor a few embellishment clusters, giving the layout natural focal points. I also included a basic chain border using a border punch to bring in a touch of texture and continuity across the page. Together, these small elements layer in just enough personality to tie the entire design together while keeping the overall look clean and approachable.
This is the kind of layout that feels satisfying to make and easy to customize—perfect for getting back into the rhythm of creating after the holidays.
