Scrapbook Live: New Year’s Eve Silver & Gold Layout

I’ve had my eye on this project for a while — it’s one of those layouts that instantly grabs your attention and feels destined to become a true showstopper in an album. The original design was created with Creative Memories’ Emerald Gemstone collection (now retired), but I couldn’t resist re-imagining it with the Silver & Gold collection. The palette felt like the perfect match for the New Year’s Eve party we attended just recently — festive, elegant, and full of sparkle without feeling overdone.

As soon as I started pulling the papers and laying out the pieces, I knew this version was going to be something special. The contrast between the metallic tones and the crisp black accents creates a bold, dramatic foundation that makes every photo feel important. It’s the kind of page that doesn’t just hold memories — it celebrates them.

And honestly? This layout came together perfectly. I was especially excited about how the photos turned out. I printed them in black and white on my Epson PictureMate PM400 and sized them to 3½ × 5 inches so I could fit two photos on a single 5 × 7 print and trim them apart. Not only was this efficient, but the smaller scale worked beautifully with the design and helped keep everything feeling clean and intentional.

Using black and white photos against the Silver & Gold papers gave the whole layout a timeless look while still letting the festive details shine. It’s one of those pages that feels both modern and classic — exactly what I love for milestone moments like ringing in a new year.

  1. I’m reading the directions. Will you explain how far in and how high to start placing the “L’s”?
