A Little Sketch Practice Before the Virtual Crop
Creative Memories’ September Virtual Crop is coming up, and this week on Scrapbook Live, we’re going to get ourselves warmed up and ready to create! We’ll be working with a Creative Memories Virtual Crop sketch from November 2023 and using it to practice some of the skills—and creative thinking—that come in handy when you’re working from a scrapbook sketch.
Sketches: Suggestions, Not Rules
One of the things I love about sketches is that they give you a starting point without dictating exactly what your finished layout needs to look like. You can follow one closely, make a few small adjustments, or use it simply as inspiration for something completely different.
During Scrapbook Live, we’ll talk about how I look at a sketch and break it down into manageable pieces before I start cutting my paper. We’ll also look at places where you can make adjustments based on your photos, supplies and personal scrapbooking style.
Technique Training: Cutting Large Squares on the Diagonal
For this particular sketch, we’ll be doing some diagonal cutting to create large triangles that come together for a fun effect on the page. I will share three different ways you can cut large squares on the diagonal. It’s a great technique to practice because those big diagonal pieces can look a little intimidating until you know how to approach them!
September Virtual Crop: Are You Ready?
And I have to admit, I’m especially excited about this month’s Virtual Crop. I love that my Facebook group feed is flooded with examples of everyone’s creativity and cannot wait to see what everyone comes up with. Let’s just say September’s Virtual Crop is one I’m particularly looking forward to. ?
