Let the Sun Shine In!
Okay friends — this week’s Scrapbook Live is one I am SO excited to share with you. We are making a folded triangle sunburst layout, and when you see how this comes together, I think you are going to absolutely LOVE it.
This technique is heavily inspired by the Sunshine Recipe Template that Creative Memories offered back in 2021 — and if you remember that one, you know how fun the sunburst effect can be. That recipe template is no longer available, but here is the GREAT news: you do not need it! The folded triangle technique I am going to share mimics the design wonderfully and easily works with paper you already own.
One caveat to the template: normally making a true “sunburst” effect with the paper requires you to cut out individual triangles from a yellow-toned paper, BUT if you have the Chasing the Sun paper pack, no fussy cutting is required! Two of the papers in that pack share the same golden sunburst design on the back — the front sides are different but flip them over and they match beautifully. We are going to use that to our advantage with the folded triangles to create a sunburst effect that looks like it was MEANT to be there. Because it was! ??
This general technique works with any paper pack you have in your stash — but if you want that full, glowing sunburst effect, the Chasing the Sun paper pack is where the magic really happens.
Supplies Needed:
- 1 Pink/Sunray Paper (Chasing the Sun)

- 1 Sheet Kelly Green Cardstock
- 1 Sheet Bright White Cardstock
- 12-inch Trimmer with straight and wave blades
- 13×13″ Cutting Mat
- Chasing the Sun Stickers/Embellishments
