Punching in the round: Not just for border punches
Have you ever looked at your Creative Memories shape punches and wondered if you could do something MORE with them? Something beyond punching basic shapes? Well, THIS is the week we find out — because we are punching in the round!
This Wednesday on Scrapbook Live, we are combining two of my favorite CM tools — the Custom Cutting System Jumbo Circle Pattern and your Creative Memories shape punches — to create a stunning decorative circular page mat. We’re talking serious STATEMENT piece. Title page, opening spread, album closer — this technique delivers every single time. I will be using the new Little Footprints Punch with the Bundle of Joy collection. The Embossed Scallop Shell Punch also makes an appearance as I discuss direction of punches.
Before we dive into the punching, we are going to start by talking about how to mark your Jumbo Circle so you can center it consistently on your 13×13 cutting mat AND map out your angle marks around the circle. All you need is a thin-tip Sharpie — and I have a printable handout plus some additional videos linked below if you want to get a head start before we go live!

- How to mark your punch so it lines up perfectly with your angle marks every time
One important tip for this class: bring your ugly paper! Seriously — grab some scraps or papers you don’t love, because experimenting is the whole point. You are going to be testing your punches and working out your spacing, and this is absolutely a “play first, commit later” kind of technique. The handout gives you a framework to work from, but the real goal is to get comfortable with the process and make it your own.
The finished result is worth every test punch — a beautiful circular mat that looks like it took serious skill (and it DID, but we’ll make it feel easy ?)
